چکیده
This paper discusses the ultimate strength of composite plate girders with intermediate inclined stiffeners. The inclination angle stiffener, web opening size and span length are key factors influencing performance girder. study used LUSAS software to develop 20 non-linear finite element models using stiffener different angles, sizes lengths. have an 90°, 75°, 60°, 45° 30°. plates were divided into six or eight sub-panel webs depending on stiffener. behaviour influenced by length. Design Requirements for Plate Girders with Bolted Transverse Stiffeners
The web of plate girders in bridges are usually reinforced by welded transverse stiffeners in order to improve their shear capacity.Due to problems associated with field welding and fatigue, welded stiffeners are not suitable for retrofitting existing bridges. Bolted stiffeners are a practical alternative for strengthening girders that are expected to experience shear stress in excess of their ...
متن کاملA Proposed Method to Evaluate Ultimate Resistance of Plate Girders Subjected to Shear and Patch Loading (RESEARCH NOTE)
Experimental investigation of the ultimate resistance of slender, steel-plate girder web panels to combined shear-and-patch loading indicates significant interaction between shear loading and patch loading. However, an existing interaction formula is based on experimental results. Herein, an improved design procedure for slender plate girders subjected to combined shear and patch loading is pro...

متن کاملTOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION OF PERFORATED STEEL PLATE SHEAR WALLS WITH THICK PLATE IN SIMPLE FRAMES
In this paper, topology optimization (TO) is applied to determine the form, size and location of holes for the special form of perforated steel plate shear wall (PSPSW). The proposed model is based on the recently presented particular form of PSPSW that is called the ring-shaped steel plate shear wall. The strain energy is selected as the objective function in the optimization. Simple Isotropic...
متن کاملExperimental and Numerical Study of Perforated Steel Plate Shear Panels
Thin perforated Steel Plate Shear (SPS) Walls are among the most common types of energy dissipating systems. The applied holes reduce the shear strength of the plate and allow to decrease the profile size of the members at the boundary of the panel when these systems are used in the typical design of structures. On the other hand, the different fracture locations of these panels are visible whe...
